Alright, cool all stuff I haven't got a copy of - exactly what I wanted.
I'll have a look at them all.

Azumanga Diaoh was slapstick comedy IIRC and fairly high on my want to watch list, thanks for reminding me of it.

I may have been a little unclear when saying I didn't want fanservice, let me fix that.
I will watch it even if it's nothing but fluff, as long as there is a decent story to it - I'm just not actively looking for it as it isn't anything that persuades me to watch what I watch.

Is that signature from Texnolyze? I'm halfway through trying to watch that right now.

Witchblade I've seen and while it was definitely heavy on fanservice, the story was magnificent enough to make me love it :P

Scrapped princess is another one from my want to watch list, but I don't remember anything at all about it.

Guess it's time to go hit rightstuf up and see what I can afford.

Definite +1 for Azumanga Daioh. One of my fave series

I was just gonna throw Chrno Crusade in there because i remembered i never finished it when i was soting some DVDs the other day =P Also doesn't fit all your chriteria but i would definitely recommend GTO.. that series is friggin hilarious. I actually like older series too so these are just off the top of my head at the moment. If you still need more recommendation i can actually stop and think about it for a bit

Assuming you've already seen Berserk right?

Nope, haven't seen Berserk, I also think you meant Chrono crusade
As for GTO, I saw it, but I much preferred the manga, good series though. Thanks for the input.

Surprisingly no, it kinda is Chrno Crusade ;)

I'll throw in a couple suggestions, check'em out on
AniDB if any of them takes your fancy:
Busou Renkin, Code Geass, Gun x Sword and Zegapain.

Maybe the Nanoha franchise, since you like Escaflowne and Mai-Otome? It definitely has moe, and magic powers supplied by mechanical devices. It's darker than it looks, and the first series (Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha) is a short 13 eps. If you like it, there's sequels.

Maybe Stellvia of the Universe?

Never even heard of it, I'm up for some other suggestions not included in the categories in OP, as long as you think I would like them based on some stuff I have watched. Out of date list, eyecancer

Been meaning to check nanoha out.

Also, I just found a copy of Azumanga Diaoh floating around in my archives (along with like 50 other shows I didn't realize I had) lol. Guess I did have a copy.

+1 Read Or Die, think I might watch it again now.

Outlaw Star, no real superpowers, but there are spaceships. Very Cowboy Bebop/Trigun alike, it's pretty damn good.
