The world seems to be addicted to super hero movies, and lets be honest with their characters, plot and predictability....
I will go against apparently everyone in this thread: I suggest quitting.
If you feel you are not happy at 24 and are wasting time on anime, how will you feel at an old age? Yes, there are amazing anime shows, T.V. shows, music, art, hobbies and experiences to be had in your ONE lifetime that you can't possibly do even if you wanted to. If you are dissatisfied, with your life change it.

This. One medium is not inherently greater or worse than another, simply different. It took me years to realise that some of the most thought-provoking things I'd encountered came from films and not just books like everyone kept telling me when I was younger. That said, you should try to get out a bit. Ideally being social, sure, but quite often I'll go into London on my own for a film binge in Leicester Square (four cinema's right next to Chinatown. Seriously, is there a more heavenly place?) and just getting out of the house once in a while feels good. My social life, when I'm not with the wife, largely tends to consist of hanging out with a graphic designer, a hacker, a Starcraft II nerd and a woman who once asked "when was Jesus born." Yet somehow we all get along.

This. Dude, you sound like you have your own lab there. ;)
Where I currently live, I don't have that much of a social life, and I'm fine with that. There were several hobbies that I had as a kid that I decided to force myself out of because they weren't col or acceptable to my family. You know what I recently started realizing? After going back to a lot of them, including watching Anime, programming, and gaming, I found that I was a much more complete and happier person because those are "me" things that I naturally enjoy.
I'm 25 years old, and, although I personally do not find hentai at all appealing, if that interests you and you ain't stabbing or raping people over it, fuck what people think. Hell, fuck what we think about the whole subject. ;)

This. I didn't watch anime for like 8 months or so because I caught up to almost everything I wanted to watch so I switched to Japanese dramas, then I got back into anime. I mean, I take a break once in a while, but the 8 months period was the longest of all. Especially the past 2-3 years, anime's been extremely good - not enough words could describe. You won't see shit like in anime in any TV show, at least in my opinion.

However when the majority of the adults of past generation waste all their time in front of TV watching some shit mixed with ton of commercials, it totally "normal".

People are driven to depression and rioting by the arbitrary results of sporting events, idolize men destroying their bodies for their entertainment, and surround themselves in athletic team iconography as if holy, and this is considered normal. Whereas other fandoms, not just anime, are treated as an existential threat to socialization and masculinity. If you like superhero comics, video games, science fiction, fantasy novels, musicals, table top roleplaying games, LARPing. or anything other than the usual bro-shit you'll have half the internet questioning your sexuality and calling you a basement dwelling virgin in turn.
People are not asocial due to their hobbies. They are not heterosexual because they drink beer, watch action movies, and go to the big game. There is more to a person than what they like or dislike in the sphere of culture.
