I'm 29, and sometimes I don't feel like I'm mature enough to watch anime to be honest.

I'm always hoping for more pantsu-shots in every show.

You are in the exact same situation as I am except I am 22. I do believe there is an age cap for slice of life (around 25), but anything else is fair game as long as it is somewhat intellectual.

What? Slice of Life is usually more mature than other genre because they develop characters and relationships rather than gimmicky action and gag humour.

Beck, Genshikan, Emma, Honey and Clover, and Nodame Cantabile are all Slice Of Life -- there are plenty more like them.

I should have been more specific - the school themed slice of life. That being said what I think and what I feel are different. I do think that at age 25 you really should be watching something different, but I use the aforementioned genre as a filler to fill in my missing adolescence.

I'm not too old for anime, and i will most likely keep watching it as i continue getting older, since there is a crapton of it one could simply download or stream, ranging from various genres. And there are some awesome series like hellsing, Shiki, Black Lagoon etc etc which i dont think you could necessarily be too old for. Of course, you do get imbeciles who think anime is childish or stupid based on what some are like, and then voice their "opinions".

It all depends how old you feel and act I guess.
I'm 27. I don't realy feel too old for anime.
I guess it has to do with how we grew up too - I'll likely still be watching anime in 10 years. I don't know of too many 37 year olds who watch anime now, then again, they didn't grow up with it.
Some animes just have a certain nostalgia factor to it, and I think it's quite normal you like now what you liked when you grew up. Sure, there are some things you can grow out of, but if you had so much fun watching anime as a kid, why stop now?
Some anime can be all serious and emotional like Clannad, not all anime is immature. Try making a 10 year old watch Steins;Gate, see if they even grasp what the hell is going on.

I get your drift though, I mean, I'm ALREADY 27, at least that's how I feel. But I have no intention of letting my inner child go away yet ;)

Speaking of Sponge Bob, his voice actor also voiced Griffin Katou in the english dub of Groove Adventure Rave, a/k/a Rave Master.

Say that when you meet a cute girl, only to learn she's 15, and feel fucking dirty because of it.

I started watching anime while I was over seas in Japan age 22. I feel in love with it. Anime is everything america toons wish they were and more. I wish i would have found anime sooner. I am now 42 years old and I have no problem letting anyone I know that I like anime. My office is plastered with Anime posters and call of duty, BF3,  40K memorabilia. My wife has given in and accepts that me and several of my mates are hopeless anime attics. I say to you all sisters and brothers that no age is to old. I plan to keep watching and enjoying until the day I die.

You should try bars. They're almost 21, you won't be disappointed.

Returning to the initial topic, I think everything was said so I'm just gonna add this : you don't have to be that geeky nerd guy because you like anime (or manga btw), it's like any other hobbies, it may be sports for other one or traveling or anything else. I mean, yeah, most of the time we've got this cliché, but if we look in Japan we can see business men, doctors, etc whom like anime! So, long story short, don't worry about it, just enjoy your life and anime, but without actually forgetting to live your life!

See ya!

66 years, and prefer anime over the crud in the movies and most of what is on TV.

I really like the anime and manga hard Sci-Fi, and Sci-Fi fantasy:
Planetes, Starship Operators, Strike Witches, Railgun
Ahhh... Strike Witches...

I subscribed to Analog SF&F for 40 years, but deteriorating eyesight made the print version too hard to read, and the e-book version, I was getting, became too unreliable.
I did not feel like buying a proprietary reader to continue, especially when the stories weren't that good compared to the ones the scanlators were doing from Japan.

I think my generation was the first one to grow up with anime.  Speed Racer, Voltron, G-Force(Battle of the Planets), Robotech....

Yeah. So my love of anime has been life long and grown only stronger as I got older.  When I discovered torrents....I became voracious.

Ranma 1/2 was what solidified my love of anime.  It was still being broadcast in Japan when I was there, so I watched it without subtitles and it was understandable!!

Turned 40 this year.  I need to get some exercise, but I'm a fan of anime.  I always have been and I always will.

Um, Speed Racer is technically even before my time. I'm 50. So is Speed. This show was on the local independent TV station when I was in elementary/junior high. When I was younger that that, Johnny Quest was my favorite. Voltron came to the US when I was on my first ship in the navy. To think I could have seen an episode of Urasei Yatsura or two fresh when I was in Japan, and it was in its prime! Yeah, but US warships don't have Japanese broadcast capable TVs. sigh.

Really, there has been a few generations of Americans who have grown up on cartoons, and still love them. Look at John Lasseter. He just found a better, more publicly acceptable way of loving his animation fixation.

Mostly I think we all tend to want more seinen than shounen as we age. More josei, less shoujo. (if I got the feminine terms right) We want our insanity tom come along more as Neil Gaiman and Douglas Adams, rather than Beavis and Butthead or South Park. We've been there, done that. Give us something we don't know already for a change!
Timing is everything in comedy!

I am 30, soon 31, I am army reservist with quite extensive training in field medicine etc, I enjoy camping and survivalism. I have watched anime half of my life pretty continously but I saw my first animes when I was under 7. I started watching anime regularly prior army in high school, I continued it in army when possible and reading manga. After transferring to reserve and getting my university degree, I continued watching anime. To me, anime is one way completely 0 my brains and focus something way less serious things. I don't think I'll stop watching anime aslong I live or there's war but even in case of war, I'd continue after war.
