Well, the people that got my number till now can't even be considered as only being contacted on a regular basis, I think. It's more like constant contact^^ I've known them for over 7 years now, playing regular Civilization or Europa universalis MPs (read 1000s of hours) with them. Met them all last year too, which was nice.

Which is the case. But no, it probably still doesn't count anyway, at least not for the purposes of this poll.

Well, I guess Morgia doesn't count then, even though I actually bought her a phone since hers did not work while she was in Norway.
For one thing, Tiff is not on any level what I would call a typical American.  She's not what I would consider a typical person.  I don't know any other genius geneticist anime-fan martial artist marksman model-level beauties, do you?

Aww Hell Naw!

I don't want to be spammed all the time! Some BBTers have a discardable phone number that redirects to mine but it is only for super important matters. Still no abuse yet... I hope it stays that way.

My phone number is a sacred trust between me and every telemarketer on the planet.
ain't that the sad truth. . .
though I immediately demand that my number be removed from there system as I gave no permission for my number ect to be used for direct marketing or otherwise.
and as to my answer. . .hell no. . .unless it be a meet. and then only to people i've known for years on end.

Here in the US we have an opt-out list thing and telemarketers won't call us.

We have that too, but many seem to ignore it.

Not a chance in hell.

I have to agree.  I can think of a few people here who would probably be fun to hang out with, and hence worthy of sharing my phone number, but I dislike talking on the phone and avoid it as a general rule.  The vast majority of folks here I would probably want to strangle if I spent any amount of time interacting with them outside of here.  And they'd probably want to do the same to me.
It took an hour to write; I figured it'd take an hour to read.

It's annoying when it's your cellphone, so the calls potentially waste a minute or so each time unless you hang up immediately.

we have it here as well. . .though they charge you an abnormal amount for that text message to op-out.
every time they pass a new section or sub section in the consumer protection act, all our companies do is change their T&C to once again cover their asses. . .so it's a never ending cycle. . .
Ixarku, I have to agree with you. . .I prefer talking face-face. . .hence I stay away from my phone or never give my number out. . .unless as I said I know that person quite well.

Thinking about it, there is one person in here that I would exchange phone number with. Here is the reason why (from Forum member picture thread):

Yeah, I actually do work there. They bought in several brand new DMU 5-axis CNC milling machines and I jumped on that job since it is chill and pays well. Actually my first time working for a car manufacturer, since I was usually running the Pick&Place CNC at my former job, but electronics is such a dead business in this country. Anyway with all the aluminium and milling, I have to wear protective glasses 8 hours per day, so it's a habit  ;)

Also I think I have seen you before... was it Chaplin or Flipp? Maybe some other pub...

Thats awesome, Its pretty good to work in R.A. Kinda missing it, but Im not regretting going back to school after I finished my Craft Certificate as a car painter either. Plastal produces and paints bumpers for Volvo, as you probably already knew. And some of the bumpers, with special paint or just in limited numbers, are actually hand painted. So I was fresh out of "high school" and worked as a car painter apprentice at Plastal.

That certainly is a big possibility, I've hung at Chaplin since I turned 20. But only a little since last year, since Im living right outside Oslo now. But If you meet me in some pub, give me a shout. I love meeting other animefreaks since allmost none of my friends are in to that kinda stuff

we have the DMA national opt-out. . .though as I said, they change their T&C, so some of our companies have a cooling off period and then they once again start sending texts ect. . .
though not as much if you do register. . .or I demand that my information be removed. . .so prefer to keep my info, number ect off of the net and never click on those "send me news and information" shit when registering to sites.

I have met a few people on an onlinegame that I played for several years, and I have some of them on skype, facebook and phone number. Planning on visiting some of them next summer. I have known them for about 8 years now, never met them, and havent played the game for some years either.
Skype is fairly safe to give out, IF you have chatted with the person for a while, becuase you can remove them if they are an arse, or just log of.
I wouldnt be afraid to give people in here my skype, but I don't think anyone would get my phonenumber.
The problem with the world is that the intelligent  people are full of doubts, while the stupid ones are full of confidence.

Without a cam or mic skype is just like any other messenger, and that's the only thing I use it for personally. I didn't want to use it. I was forced to when MSN Messenger (Windows Live Messenger) shut down.

Probably would never do this, not without meeting you people in real life first. It's just difficult to gauge people through the internet. Considering we never have meets in the US, and there's no way in hell I'm flying to Europe, it's probably never going to happen.

Hell, I don't even have my pic anywhere. Be that Facebook (which I never use anyway), my LinkedIn profile... anything. This is quite intentional. Though, I would have put it on LinkedIn if I was actually using that as a networking tool, but I happened to get a job long before I had to do that.

As it is now, the only people I have on my phone are folks I met throughout my life, like college friends and such.

Cute, huh?

I stopped using it when it tried to force me to update.

I've used this nick for so many things; blog posts, webzines, forums, online games. You can find out a tonne about me just by searching it... but quite frankly anyone considering stalking me is only in for a shock when they realise I'm really not that interesting.
