InuYasha -- in Cantonese?
« on: January 11, 2014, 03:43:16 PM »
Hi  :)

Does anyone know where - or even if it exists - InuYasha with a Cantonese audio track can be obtained?

Not the four movies, there's seemingly no trouble finding those with a Cantonese dub. I mean the 167 episode series (maybe "The Final Act" as well).

eBay looked like it might have some for sale, but on looking at the pic of the back of the DVD boxset it was clearly the movies only that were in Cantonese.

It seems to have been broadcasted in Hong Kong, so one might exist.

That's what I'm hoping. From that link it looks like "The Final Act" might also, going by gtranslate referring to "Inuyasha Concluded" being broadcast. I would've thought if the movies had been canto-dubbed then the series/s probably would've been, too. Getting hold of one'd be such a good way to help improve my fledgling Cantonese!

There might be a possibility that they only broadcasted it on TV, and never actually released a DVD collection.

If that's the case, you'll probably be more successful searching through Chinese P2P communities for a TV rip.

Edit: The bigger Chinese private trackers only seem to have the usual Japanese/English dubs.
Edit2: 70730 at ADC claims to have Season 1, Disc 8 in "Chinese (Uncut)".
It's probably Taiwanese, though.

Edit3: Also, yeah, but "Inuyasha Concluded" is better than nothing, right? :)
And, wait, that indicates even further that the Season 1, Disc 8 Chinese dub isn't in Cantonese...
Sorry I couldn't be of help.

Definitely! :) Plus the "Inuyasha Concluded" section was further up in page you linked; it had a section on the "Inuyasha" show as well.

Yeah, the word Chinese on its own is a little more likely to refer to Mandarin.
70730 at ADC [the Season 1, Disc 8] is a custom comprising the Japan disc and language tracks taken from various retail DVDs.
65273 at ADC ["Chn subs only"] is the Taiwan retail release. It has Japanese & Mandarin audio.
The Chinese dub on the custom Disc 8 is most likely both Mandarin and from the Taiwanese retail disc. Looks like the one who made the custom grabbed a DVD5 of 65273 from the same uploader.

You were a help. Even if so far it's not yet confirmed if there was a release w/Cantonese or if/where there's such a version, we're a bit closer. :) Now I know it was definitely broadcast in Cantonese-speaking Hong Kong on/by Animax.

...One of the Malaysian-based eBay stores were selling Fairy Tail retail boxsets with Cantonese audio. Not that I'm trying to track down that atm but clearly anime is at least released in that language.
