Ecchi
« on: January 11, 2014, 05:38:06 PM »
I've started to notice the number of shows tagged as Ecchi seems inappropriate. What exactly do people define as Ecchi? To me, Ecchi is stuff along the line of Queen's Blade and Ikkitousen; while something like Rosario x Vampire is maybe Ecchi lite. Yet I'm seeing stuff like Vampire Hunter D and Ninja Scroll tagged as Ecchi.

Generally - fan service without there being much reason for it.

Stuff like Queen's Blade and Ikkitousen is closer to a really censored porno.

I think you mean Borderline Hentai.

And, about ecchi, we could consider Infinite Stratos, Highschool DxD, To Love-Ru (the king of the actual ecchi, i think <__> ), but Ninja Scroll? Wot.

Ecchi contains hentai elements without being actual hentai, so what ^ said.

If you have a show with more than average sexual innuendos, you get ECCHI!

...And therefore, Ninja Scroll, to use your example, octavian, damn straight qualifies as ecchi - lol.

you probably have seen too much of it and became numbed to its effects. . .

It happened to me, I recommended a show to a friend and he was like "dude this is fan service non-stop" and I was like "nah man, nah its cool, its pretty sci-fi and no fan service"

then I watched it with him, and his commentaries and yes. . .indeed it had too much fan service in the excessive sized boobs, the excessively tight suits etc, transformation scenes, all that stuff. . .bouncing boing boing

all that stuff, and I realized, i had been numbed to ecchi effects

This is exactly my definition.

I have always wondered whether you call the sailor moon transformations ecchi or not though.
