The "Poles" you speak of are Ukrainians. They were under Polish rule for a time but they still speak Ukrainian and identify themselves as Ukrainians(so much that they would massacre Poles when they had the chance). The Russians in Eastern Ukraine and Crimea on the other hand, speak Russian and align with Russia, which is not surprising since many of them are there because of Soviet-era policies.

The Jews of Odessa moved out. It's now mostly Ukrainians and Russians. The area is pro-Russia because the Soviet Union moved a lot of people there after Jews left.

You made it sound like the Svoboda party is only one that matters when every major and minor party who isn't with the government are on the bandwagon. The Batkivshchyna and UDAR are bigger and enjoy far more support than Svoboda across the board but their views are pretty normal. The simple relationship of geographic location/demographic and political alignment shows up clearly when you compare the maps of election results from various parties(Party of Regions, Batkivshchyna, Communist Party, UDAR and Svoboda), it's less complicated than you think.

Actually, the poles cited on wikipedia show support of the EU by the country as a whole.(49% UN vs 31% Russia, 45% UN vs 14% Russia, 58% UN, 39% UN vs 37% Russia). The only polls that show a majority support to Russia are regional.

Guys, it's about to begin. The crowd is batshit insane and ready for war. Klitchko (how the fuck to write that name?) tried to negotiate with the president and calm the mob down so now he is not the "leader" any more

. They will find someone new, probably form Svoboda this time. Anyway make some popcorn, because finally there may actually be a new civil war in Eur.... eh, Geographical Europe (cultural Mordor).

Ok, so let's make bets on who takes which piece of the pie. I predict that Turkey will take over Crimea. Poland will take Lviv and the rest of Galicia, Russia will take Donbass and everything in the middle will be a warzone that will later become a shithole with UN forces from Pakistan keeping peace. Either way it will be fun!

Who gives a shit about a few executions here and there. The real news is that 6 major cities and their districts in western part of the Ukraine are now no longer under government's control.

I expect a full blown civil war next week with much higher death toll. This time both sides will have military hardware, so this will be fun!

The front pages of all 2 of the three main newspapers in my city were about the faith of the Canadians hockey team. Lets keep people's thoughts mediocre by feeding them mediocre news.

Opposition is not stupid it seems. If they take the prime minister job now, they will inherit the bankruptcy of the country. Obviously something that can't be solved overnight and taking over now just means that all the blame they throw will bounce right back at them.

No,k I suspect they want to completely raze the political system and thus have an excuse of "tough times building it all up from scratch", earning sympathy from everyone. In any case I support the action of resetting the government just out of principle: We should change politicians as often as dirty diapers and for the same reason.
