Miyazaki's Call Out of Otakus
SchoolDaysEX:
He specifically says it is the industries fault. Well, who else would work for 2 dollars an hour for a job that they don't love?

Mr. Miyazfuckuka. Go eat shit. Life moves on. Modern shit takes over. The past is dead. DEAL WITH IT.

Just because new anime is new and 'takes over' doesnt make it better.
Miyazaki's critique runs deep because he suggests that new anime is shallow and fake because the writers themselves dont understand the real world (and the people in it). He also suggests that the creation of anime should be about animating/representing realistically based people. He hates all of the kawaii and moe and typical modern character designs that permeate the majority of new anime.
I dont really want to agree with his narrow-minded viewpoint regarding the quality of the entire indsutry itself (many notable titles have come out in the newer generation of anime), but there have definitely been loads of anime lately that directly target the otaku mindset. A lot of it wouldnt make much sense to those not already acquainted with anime and manga. It's definitely been an otaku world in the anime industry for quite a few years now.

What's that got to do with the essence of the statement? I'd rather listen to him/want to know his opinion than some no-name. He contributed immensely to the reputation of the Japanese animation throughout the world and was active until the end and not some faggot who crunches numbers and is out of touch with the business.
What do we have? Moeblobs and sexual fanservice bordering on erotica/pornography. Those are elements aimed at otaku, simple as that.
It's a vicious cycle... to generate money they aim at otaku, to get more money they cater even more... but Japan has other, much more difficult problems. The current tendency in the anime/manga industry is just a symptom of those.

Just as I thought I couldn't respect the man more.
While he is conservative, and make questionable claims at times, the recent trend in anime isn't exactly helping the otakus' reputation.
