No more school anime!!

UGH!!  It's gotten to the point if I see slice of life, or school, I'm just not interested.

Why can't a story revolve around people instead another freaking school?

I mean, people have lives outside of schools...

Well of the five series I'm watching right now, all of them use schools or academies as major settings and I'm getting a decent amount of enjoyment out of them. But if you want to get away from the school settings there are always series to cater to you. A good example is the series I'm looking at taking on next: Log Horizon. I've heard it referred to as being like Sword Art Online, except better. It features an MMORPG fantasy setting and main characters old enough to have left school years ago.

Things may be wrong with the anime industry, but things are always wrong with every industry. Best to keep some sense of perspective so you don't get depressed I think.

The amount of anime I find worth watching each season has decreased a lot in recent years, the school life and moeblob shit has grown more tiresome as time has gone on.

I used to think maybe I was growing out of anime, but then awesome shows like Fate/Zero and From the new world come along every so often...that's when I realised so many shows using the same stale shit was the problem.

Yup, if you only watch new series. A lot of super interesting shows like Monster, Ergo Proxy, Witch Hunter Robin and Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex are all old shows that steers clear of anything resembling a school setting.

It's sad that 60% of anime today is shit, but thankfully we still get some good stuff.

I swear 99% of anime complaints are like this. I bet the studios are just tuning them out at this point.

- Too much girls being objectified

This is getting on my nerves. if you hate it so much, you can do two things:
1. Stop watching all the shows you (claim to) hate,
2. Buy the shows you like, so that anime producers become more aware of what people like.

If you can't do that, then learn to deal with it.

- ecchi
- lolis
- tsunderes
- harem (at least 50% of the time)
- boring male leads
- girls being objectified
- moe
- incest (or more like, every incest anime = school anime)

So yea, there is TOO MUCH of shitty school series.

How to make good "school series"?

- Kill la kill
- etc.

Well, to be fair. For the first 18 years (give or take) of your life, it's dominated by school. Then possibly 4+ years of college after that. Soooo... yeah. In terms of people that watch anime, the majority of them are still IN school, therefore they create anime that they can relate to. It makes sense to me.

However! I do agree with the OP to a point (and also Miyazaki). There's too much trash being created because the creators are catering to that particular demographic far too much. They need to go outside the box more, if they're going to stick with the school-based anime. GTO and Kill la Kill are great examples.

I like anime like that. There is a bit too much at the moment, I want to see about 2 different series a season. It's probably not your cup of tea, but it's for my cup of tea. This is focusing on slice of life, daily life and coming of age genre. If you're talking about all the stupid shit that you see around in anime like teenagers, high school and what not then I couldn't agree anymore with you.

if you don't like a type of anime, then don't watch it.  I like sol, moe, and can tolerate a little bit of ecchi.  I don't like harem, can't stand it, so I do not watch it.  I enjoy the more serious stuff as well and there usually are some.

What shows did you like last year???  what shows did you like in 2003???1993???  I have a feeling there is not too much difference in the number.

I don't even watch new anime anymore unless it's something sports related. Everything I watch is from the late 80s-mid 00s with a few exceptions like FMA:B and Fate/Zero.

I've counted 13 anime of this seasons 30 are centered around school.That's a lot but way better than past seasons.
I'm pretty sure the OP isn't really mad that stories take place in a school but he associates school anime with bad anime which is a pretty safe bet.I'm thinking maybe 80% of the school anime in the last 5-6 years have been unwatchable.
Also the school setting is very limiting.Look at Kill la Kill.We see it over the top cause they have things like armies of school clubs but take out the school and yep it's a regular anime.spoof spoof spoof.I can't be the only seeing it.
