Quote
The latest stage production of Yoshiki Tanaka's space opera novel series Legend of the Galactic Heroes opened on Wednesday, and it ended with an announcement of a new anime adaptation. Tanaka's secretary Hirofumi Adachi confirmed the news, and relayed the producer's comments that the new anime is not a remake of the earlier anime, but another anime adaptation of the original novels with a new staff.

Anyone else elated about this?? ^_^

No, not really. Very skeptical...

I knew nothing of the outside world. I was just a frog in a well.

hmm.... let's see how many episodes this one will have. I won't be happy if it spawns no less than 2 26ep seasons, at the very least.

It's going to be VERY difficult to one-up the original series; it was space opera at its very finest, much like the Crest/Banner of the Stars series.

Oh, I dunno. To one-up it, all they need to do is have some reasonable sense of diplomacy, not just a means to a hostage situation. The battle tactics are as well developed as elementary school kids soccer (football) plays. And it has damn close to Gundam's idea of continuity!

Just a guess, but maybe it's because they can't finish David Weber's stuff because of ADV's bankruptcy.
Timing is everything in comedy!

I only hope that we don't get ANOTHER Tytania.

Good to know.   The only thing that annoys me more than a bad anime, is one that's actually good, but over too soon.  I mean, if the story is complete, fine, but just *clanK* and it's over..?  Meh.

yeah they were already on the "yeah let's go! let's fight the evil and extremely large-super-big bad space empire, me and my ship, just like Harlock!" and then, "THE END!"

the only time I felt extremely bummed about an anime ending when stuff was getting awesome was back when they animated 12 Kingdoms.

... there's still a (really tiny) part of me that believe on the day that they make the 60 and some episodes they were supposed to do, instead of the 45 we got.

Well if it makes you feel any better the glass no kantai anime may shimmer those bummed out expectations.
