I'm actually surprised that there isn't really a forum thread discussing YGO as a card game.
Anyway, I'm sure most of you who do follow the YGO meta will know that over in the OCG, a new ruling has been created. It is that:
"The turn player who goes first does not draw a card, but the player who goes 2nd does draw a card."
I'm sure it's phrased better than that but I don't have an official translation...
I think that this is a great addition to the game, as going first has a number of advantages:
- Gets a +1 off of the draw
- Can make plays without worrying about any backrow, the only thing being hand traps and even then, you're limited to basically maxx c and veiler.
- Bring out a big beater for your opponent to have to deal with
By big beaters, I'm thinking of Dracossacks for Dragons/Harpies, Hyperions/Kristyas for Agents/Fairies etc.
However, will a one card disadvantage really trouble the turn player going first that much? I'd like some discussion of this please.
Also, regarding Pendulum summoning, I'll copy/paste something I found.
Once per turn, by using the number on the Pendulum Scale of the 2 Pendulum Monsters on the Pendulum Zone as a reference, you can Pendulum Summon any number of monsters from your hand and/or Pendulum Monsters from your Extra Deck with a Level between the blue Pendulum Scale of the Pendulum Monster on the left Pendulum Zone and the red Pendulum Scale of the Pendulum Monster on the right Pendulum Zone.
It seems radically different to the Synchro and Xyz summons we've gotten used to. I'm interested on how it impacts the game.
Anyway, I'd be really happy to see some discussion regarding this, they're big changes to the game.
(inb4 no one comments on this thread making me look like an idiot)
