if it's not in Seeding status, what status is it in?

also, screenshots would be nice. Mask your torrent key and other sensitive information

36 TB of upload gone poof

Amorphous Plate Wiggle

So... I just updated my userpage and got quite the nasty surprise. My previously quite large number of ~40 TB of upload has apparently turned into ~4 TB, and I have no idea why.

I'd be very happy if someone could tell me what happened to my 36 TB. Individual torrent stats seem to still be intact, it's just the overall upload and ratio that's been screwed.

Userpage link in case it's needed: http://www.boxtorrents.com/user/635523/Sniz.html

Edit: Oh, I guess this should've gone in the [Help] Ratio and Stats Problems thread... Guess it's too late now. That's what I get for not sleeping enough. Thanks to whoever moved this post.

Edit again: I guess you might've been waiting for some Amorphous Plate Wiggles. Sorry, but I totally forgot >_>

I've been seeding a bit the past 2 days now that I've started using BoxTorrents, but am not happy with the statlosses I'm getting. I'm on µTorrent 1.8.1.

(click to show/hide)

I've seen this about DHT and peer exchange enabled/disabled, and am wondering if that would cause such big losses. I'm using other torrents, so I haven't disabled it from the client settings. All BoxTorrents clients say "Not Allowed" on these anyway, so I thought that meant they acted as disabled.

Can (other) stathackers cause this? I've seen a couple of suspicious peers with weird client versions from time to time.

A few additional points of interest:
- All my torrents seem tracked, they just lose some of the stats slowly and consistently.
- I disconnect once every 1h 2min, which may cause data transfered around then to not get tracked properly.
- My downloads also have slight size deficiency, but not near as large as my uploads. (Barely noticable)

all of the torrents on our site are private so DHT and PEX are automatically disabled. There should be no problems on our end regarding stats reporting.
The default tracker announce time for our torrents is 30 minutes. since you're being disconnected about every hour, i'm guessing it may be an issue with your client not communicating with the tracker properly. check your client and internet settings, and see if upgrading your client will help.
additionally, for some reason you may have downloaded one of the public torrents while you were not logged in. if this is the case, the passkey attached to one or more of your torrents may be the public key and not yours. doublecheck that the .torrent files you have loaded in uTorrent have your passkey inserted.

All torrents and passkeys are fine, as I'm well aware of issues regarding those. As you say, it's likely my disconnection issue, which I can't really do anything about. Is there anyway to update the tracker, say, every 20 minutes? If not, I'll just learn to live with it.

You can update manually. Is this feature implemented in µtorrent?

i see it uploading but for awhile i saw no change on the website i been look real carefully and i seems it is see that i am uploading it just i have dled it just must update itself once an hour or something lol though i still have a long way to go i am  stoping   dl till i can get my ratio two 1. but i think that is ganna be years by the looks of it = P Ratio: 0.601 Up: 418.34 GB Down: 695.97 GB is the stats in the last 4 days i only managed to get the ratio up  .005  so it ganna be a while i at the momit don't have  anthing that has low seeders i ran out of room on my hard drive and cleared it now im kicking myself lol

I thought I was in the red since I dropped down below 1 for the first time since I signed up! I guess I've still got some leeway. On that note when are donations going to be open again? I really need to keep it above 1 and can't really seed right now due to internet problems.

Thanks!

Also Dabooma, please please please type in the correct upright position with your face at least one and a half feet from the monitor. Also make sure the room is brightly lit and you are wearing any vision apparel that your Doctor has recommended that you wear.

Other than that try different Bittorrent clients. My ratio seems to drop like a rock when I use uTorrent and magically go sky high when I use Bitcomet so make sure to get the one that's right for your computer.

Eh? That can't be right. If you don't download anything how can your ratio drop while using uTorrent to seed but not if you use BitComet?  ;)

Anyway, probably something settings related.

Well I did the exact same activity for uTorrent as I do with Bitcomet, and supposedly uTorrent is simpler. I didn't set any limits on downloads or uploads for either of them. No priority changes either. However, uTorrent downloads quicker but uploads virtually nothing for some reason.

Probably best for direct downloads and not public or private trackers. For me, Bitcomet is definitely the more seeding friendly option, always has been. Both clients have their advantages, uTorrent is much lighter on my CPU resources but Bitcomet is the best especially for big torrents where ratio will be affected highly, and customization may be desired. If you have 2GB of RAM Bitcomet will be manageable, but if you are just barely getting by with 1GB it is not recommended at all as it is a resource hog.

OK, two brief issues.

Firstly, the tracker occasionally reports that I'm leeching when I'm actually seeding. However, from what I've gathered, that's an unimportant bug/feature/whatever, so I'll float right on by that.

Secondly, I recently noticed that six of my torrents are reported as having an infinite ratio. One of these, Yakitate!! Japan, I sort of understand, since I got the series from a friend, then did a quick (note: not actually quick) rename of the files, then redownloaded episode 34. However, the rest I leeched in full from the site. In particular, Gintama's first season and Bounen no Xamdou, which were the first two. Then Yakitate!!, Outlaw Star, Lucky Star, Haruhi Suzumiya, and the Eureka Seven OST collection. For these seven torrents, Vuze lists me as having a ratio of 0.369, 0.291, 1.138 (since I only downloaded 150MBs or so), 1.441, 0.843, 1.527, and 1.889, respectively. My profile page lists the ratios as infinite, and the number just below that reads 0x. After reading this post, I checked when the torrents were swapped. Those that were swapped were swapped six months ago at the latest.

I'm using Vuze 4.2.0.2. I noticed the problem while I was on a (theoretically) 1MB broadband connection, and I'm fairly sure this happened just before I switched ISPs. I'm now using a 3MB cable internet, which I'm accessing through a wireless router. I'm pretty sure that isn't affecting anything, but I'm listing it for completion's sake. My current ISP is known for a bit of throttling, but this happened just before I switched, as I said.

when the tracker is down upload/download you did during that timespan isn't counted - so it is possible that.

Hi there,

First of all i have to excuse for my bad english. I lack a bit in experience and practice. :P

I also experienced some issues with my stats, since the change to bakabt. I have a difference between the ratio in my client (i use utorrent 1.6) and my profile here, and ist seems also appending on the file-size. On a file with nearly 8GB i have a difference of 0.1 now and on another one with 4GB 0.05 in my ratio. For example the file "Toradora": My client shows me a ratio of 0.759 but on bakabt i just have one of 0.665.

Such big losses are really annoying cause it also affects on my whole ratio and to "complete" (in seed) some files takes also longer. I also tried some forum-search and the stuff described in the wiki about not updating stats and so on, but nothing helped so far.

It's hard to believe that this prob is affected by my configurations. I mean bakabt is not my only tracker but the only one with this ratio-differences.

Well if you did a slightly deeper search you would have seen that when the tracker goes offline your stats aren't recorded. And that can sometimes be a good thing, but at other times can be the wrong edge of a double edged sword.

Basically what I mean is if the tracker goes down while you are leeching, your download statistics won't be accurately recorded, but the same goes for while you are seeding - where your uploaded stats will suffers. You just have to take the good with the bad, since nothing can be really done to correct it.
