Are the Spice and Wolf light novels worth reading?
« on: July 12, 2014, 05:55:37 PM »
Spice and Wolf was the first anime that I ever watched from start to finish, and its still one of my all time favorites. I've heard from some that they're good, but I haven't heard anything definitive. Does it differ a lot from the anime? I read the Welcome to the NHK novel if that helps.  Sorry if this is in the wrong forum.

I haven't watched the anime, but I can vouch that the novels are excellent.

And apparently the anime only covers volumes 1-3, 5 out of 17 :>

The light novel is superb. Very amazing, detailed and breathtaking. Just when you think the first novel is really good, the second one is more amazing. The third tops it, the fourth tops that, and it's filled with tests and puzzles, romance and drama and whenever there is action, Horo excels or bows out. The translation is really good. I'm on novel number 10. I stopped for now and I'll pick it back up when I feel the urge to read. It just really sucks that it's not done yet by Yen Press. The fan translation is done but I doubt they're anything as good as Yen Press translation.

It is very hard to pick which one is my favorite but if anything, in novel six when Horo presses hard against Lawrence at the end of the novel ... She's a really pervert deep inside. That scene is stuck in my head, lol.

BTW, you posted in the wrong section. This section is just for animations.

Couldn't stop reading them, if only I did not need to sleep, eat and shit, I would simply read them all in one go.

So yeah, they are worth reading.
It's not a bad end if it's not School Days style : )

I'll receive 1-11 next week but I've read the first LN as pdf already and I really liked it. 1-17 can be found translated online but I personally think that having it as LN is better to read.

We're never getting a S3 so yeah, read it or read the manga which is pretty good too.
