Not getting upload creddit
« on: July 27, 2014, 01:41:41 AM »
So I've been seeding 16 torrents for about 2 weeks now and haven't gotten much of my seeding tracked by the site. After reading the wiki I tried to reset my tracker key lastnight, but this didn't seem to have done the trick.

As an example of this I have since lastnight uploaded 547mb for this torrent: http://bakabt.me/176560-campione-matsurowanu-kamigami-to-kamigoroshi-no-maou-bd-1080p-fff.html

As of now my account is credited with uploading 32 MB. Before I reset my torrents with the new tracker key I had uploaded over 5 GB. As of last night I have uploaded 486 MB. I checked the tracker and it is using my new key. Here is an image of uTorrent (3.3): http://i.imgur.com/loNKbHf.png

Any info as to why I'm not getting any of my upload credit would be appreciated. Let me know if you need any more info.

Thanks!

Have you tried downgrading your torrent client to v.2.2.1?

Hi Al_Sleeper, thanks for the suggestion, unfortunately it doesn't seem to have worked. I installed 2.2.1 and have since uploaded another 300 MB to that same torrent and it doesn't look like it has had any effect on my upload rate.

Looking at my active torrents it looks like my download rate is off too. http://bakabt.me/171619-shingeki-no-kyojin-attack-on-titan.html is a completed, non free leach torrent, and I am only listed as having downloaded 6 MB of it's 807 MB total.

Edit: I realized that the small amount of credit for my up/down MB could be from the few times I didn't use a proxy and so I disabled it. I seem to be getting my data tracked now. Is there a way to keep using a proxy but have my data tracked by the site?

For future reference, resetting your tracker key does not usually improve your seeding. If anything, it'll typically hinder it, and is normally used to fix the situation where you accidentally leak your tracker key and someone else has taken it for personal gain (i.e. if your tracked stats start increasing too quickly).

Are all of your torrents showing messed-up stats? Usually such an issue affects all torrents at once but for your case it seems torrent-specific, as some torrents show a few GB seeded.

Messed-up stat tracking can sometimes happen when you add a large number of torrents at once and have them all leech at once. The heavy download traffic can sometimes interfere with your tracker updates. My stats are generally spot-on but I noticed this happening before when I added some 50 torrents at once.

Hi Freedom Kira,

I reset my tracker key as per the wiki FAQ page http://wiki.bakabt.me/index.php/FAQ#My_stats_are_not_updating._What_can_I_do.3F.

All of my torrents are showing messed up stats, the ones with large upload rates are ones that I had started to re-seed from a while back, and those upload stats are older. I chose that specific torrent to talk about because it was the one I had the largest amount uploaded.

Currently I have the 16 torrents going, and have been for between 2-3 weeks depending on the torrent.

I added a bit to my previous post about a proxy, but your reply was posted right after my update so I'm sure you didn't see it before posting. I disabled my proxy for a time and my stats updated. I then turned my proxy back on and they seem to have become locked in place again. I assume this is my issue.

I know you reset your key. I was not saying you should do that, but rather that you probably shouldn't have done that because it's not meant to fix that issue, kinda like trying to tighten a screw with a hammer.

Generally proxies cause all kinds of problems with BakaBT, ranging from minor issues like yours to fully knocking torrent traffic out. It's best if you don't use a proxy at all.

Thats what I had figured as well, but on the wiki page the question asked is "My stats are not updating. What can I do?" And the answer is to re-set your key. I didn't see how that would work, but the wiki specifically said to try /shrug.

Unfortunately it's something I tend to leave on all the time. My ISP has been known to throttle and unfortunately I'm unable to switch ISPs for the time being. I guess I'll just have to deal with not being tracked until I'm able to swap ISPs.

Maybe VPN will be a better solution.

Yeah, that's probably more of a "my stats look weird" solution. I can see how it could potentially be the cause, like if your key just happened to be causing some weird database error that you would never guess, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

As suggested above, VPN may work better, but expect lower speeds in general. You could also try different proxies until you find a good one. Neither VPNs nor proxies are my area of expertise though.
