GW2 is terrible.
If you bought in to the hype and have unreasonable expectations, sure. 
It's pretty decent, imo.
I played the original Guild Wars since it was alpha... I had PvP accounts at ranks 11, 10, and five rank 9's (I liked the tiger, thought the phoenix looked stupid -- had I known there'd be a dragon eventually I would have just gotten to r15 instead)... I wasn't just a PvPer either, I also had just about every 15k armor & FoW on every class in the game, except Dervish, Paragon, Ritualist, and Assassin... I didn't much care for those first 3 classes, and I just didn't like the FoW available for the Assassin... I also had all kinds of rare weapons... crystalines, ethereal, tormented, blah blah blah... I was also in or leader of a top 10 PvP guild my entire time on GW, at some points even top 5, top 3, or #1.
I brought my entire top 10 GvG guild over to GW2, bringing the band back together and such... Shit, I have so many crazy rare names... even the guild name is an extremely popular one word guild name that even I'm amazed I managed to snag, but I was pretty fast.
Long story short? The PvE is subpar and grindy. You can't just do the story, you have to grind out every single area before you can continue with your main quest. Not only that, but there aren't even real quests... it's just dynamic event bullshit that you have to run around like a chicken with your head cut off trying to find. Then there's the retardation that you can be 2 levels above the mobs you're fighting and then you level up and suddenly it downlevels you to 4 levels below and you get stomped.
Of course, the PvP story is even worse because the PvP in GW2 is a total joke. Absolute garbage. Out of my entire guild that I brought over to GW2, I don't think any of us play the game anymore... Whenever I log in once every few months my guild list is just offline for weeks and months, and there were a lot of us... I got the best original GW PvPers from multiple top 10 guilds.
The game sucks. If you have any idea what Guild Wars is then you know it sucks. If all you've ever played is WoW and that's what you go in expecting then it's average, at best.
The controls are clunky and practically carpel tunnel waiting to happen. They should have gotten a better active combat system like TERA, or Vindictus, but instead it falls absolutely short. What's more, everything that made the original GW good was cut out of GW2 in favor of the casual players. It was so dumbed down that it made the game suck. You don't even get skills anymore... the original GW was like MTG with so many builds and secondary professions and great (or terrible) combinations you could have in groups... and in GW2 it's just utter crap. Your weapon is your skills, and their attempt at breaking the paradigm of tank/mid/healer just completely fucked everything even worse.
I could go on for days about how shitty the game is but I'm tired of typing and I have better shit to do. Take it from me though, the game is awful.
To its credit however, it is B2P (as GW has always been), which is how games should be.
