I don't recall.

Also one has to remember that GitS does have nudity in it. Today I don't think the adaptation would be as successful as anyone thinks of THAT particular title whence Major Kusanagi treats her body only as a useful tool and vessel and truth be told she wears clothes not to bother others. While I would like to see Johansson truly naked, I don't think anyone would do a nude shot just like that for a manga adaptation, and there are just so many things that can and probably will go wrong with that Live Action it will have a very heavy impact on her career once it does fail.

GitS is also quite gory ion a few situations and especially teh later part of the story is quite hard to copy into Live Action. So while I actually would like to see a proper adaptation of it. I don't think it will be a faithful one. Most likely it will be yet another universe.

I really don't think the nudity and the gore are necessary to the adaptation.  There are other ways to convey the ideas you mentioned.  Additionally, I know if Hollywood is adapting it, it will be adapted through a western lens, with western values.  That means gore will not be a problem and nudity will not be preferred.

You're assuming it will fail because the adaptation cannot be exactly like the anime/manga.  I think that's a pretty silly position to take, and unfortunately, the typical position of "fanboys" [sorry, can't think of a better term atm].

blackhole:
Well, I would like a proper adaptation, and gore and nudity don't need to be there, but you didn't answer the question.

Americanized version of Dragon Ball, via Americanized lens.

kthxbai.

It doesn't matter who does it. It will fail.

And Sasha :D

Mikasa ... Although you can make great murder games, which I miss but have to patiently wait, though I'm not checking the game thread, I don't think you have what it takes to be like Mikasa. Maybe from looks, but not the character.

Honestly, if you think I'm anything like potato-girl you're out of your damn mind. You have a really warped mental image of me, especially if you think I'm like Krista personality-wise. I'm not carefree nor a cry baby.

I also don't look even remotely similar to Mikasa... what the hell. Jet black hair, Asian beauty... What the actual fuck. I'm Scandinavian. Blonde hair, green eyes. I look more like Rangiku from Bleach or Tsunade from Naruto.

But, let's go back to Mikasa.... Naturally talented, cold and calculating, and prone to rage when someone she cares about is threatenend. You can bet your ass I'd be just like her if I'd lost my entire family and had to protect the only person I care about in the world who I also happen to owe my life to.

I'm a lot like Motoko from GitS as well. It's been too long since I've watched a lot of anime to think of others that I'm similar to...

edit: Actually, come to think of it... I'd say I'm a lot like Byakuya Kuchiki and Aizen from Bleach as well, albeit genderswapped. I actually even saved a bunch of their quotes...

(click to show/hide)"Empathy is a meaningless human delusion." -Ulquiora

"Faith is a synonym for reliance. It is an act for the weak." -Aizen

“Something as useless as emotions, I never had them to begin with.” – Kuchiki Byakuya

“Let me tell you about the difference between you and me. It’s like the story of the monkey trying to capture the moon. However close he thinks he is to the moon, it is still just the reflection of the moon in the middle of the lake.

No matter how he struggles to capture that “moon”, he inevitably sinks to the bottom of the lake to no avail.

[You] will never reach me. Ever.” — Kuchiki Byakuya
This comes from the famous Buddhist parable Enkou Sokugetsu, and the basic moral of this story is to not recklessly attempt tasks that are impossible.

“Arrogance is often the undoing of a would-be victor” – Kuchiki Byakuya

"As I told you, the difference between my power and your power is as wide as the gap between heaven and earth." — Kuchiki Byakuya

"You wanted to control me. Let me tell you, you don't have nearly enough power to ever make that happen." — Kuchiki Byakuya

Renji: I haven't seen that in awhile. It's undoubtably amazing...! I barely saw the last two movements; I didn't even see when he pulled out his blade or even when he sheathed it when he was done. If I had a hard time taking in on what I just saw... that guy probably doesn't even know what hit him.
You know in hindsight though... Even though I enjoyed Bleach, it really really sucked. I mean, the main character had literally one move. Every single fight... "Getsuga... Tenshō!" Over and over. One move. Later on in the fight... "Ban...Kai"... "Getsuga.... Tenshōōō!"... a bit later, voice actor flips on a fan in front of their mic. "GETSUGA TENSHŌŌŌŌŌŌŌŌ!!!!" Every fight, ever.

This is pretty darn amusing. The comment section is also fun.
