Isn't that pretty much dependant on what group releases something? One of the shows I'm DL'ing right now has 6 group releases and 4 different resoloutions between them..
I could understand if people were deliberately resizing a 704x398 to 320x240 and messing up the image, but sometimes groups will alter from the RAWs themselves..
Or maybe I'm misunderstanding your meaning?
I sure hope so, because I personally DL things from many groups, with no real regard for image size over filesize..

There aren't that many standard resolutions. When a number is off by one or two, it's not hard to see.

Things nowadays are generally either 480p, 720p, or 1080p. That is x*480, x*720 or x*1080.

Please remember, this peeves me. This is not something about other people, this is something that irritates me.

Random guess: Fate Stay Night. I haven't seen this, nor played the VN. I did watch/play through Tsukihime, but it's not that.

Er.. I have some of those as well as MP4, Xvids and even one series in MKV 360p. Are we not allowed to use those as long as WE haven't resized..? All of mine are official subgroup releases.. Should we maybe mention it if it's from one of the groups that multi-size/format releases?

ex: "This was also released in ...480p by all other groups" ?

Taking a previous example, I will just say that a resolution like 854*483 is wrong. It is simply not possible. Such a resolution was definitely created by the user without intention.

I generally go for higher 'image size' without looking at filesize. A single episode is generally always less than 1GB and usually less than 500MB.

HAH yes. I once decided to look at a new show, located a batch for it, got it and it was wrongly (and strangely) set in 614x480. I don't know how they managed that, or how no one had commented on the file saying so, but yeah. It HAD to be either a joke/troll or a serious snafu. I figured it was the latter because there were two other batches by the same group for the series with diff. format/sizing. The final encoder must not have seen the misdone version, or something LOL

Oddest thing was, the subs were perfectly clear despite the distortion (which was indescribably eyecancerous.). Did wonders for my powers of concentration though.. "Focus on order and sense despite the kaleido-show just above."

lol a page of people going back and forth on the resolution thing but only 1 guess =P My bad i thought namaiki had guessed right i was looking at the posts wrong. I see no problem with using resize releases taht were up on ADB, sisterwicked. The rules just state that you cant resize the image yourself.

Anyway i'll put some more screens up tomorrow morning since there was only one guess. Im gonna go catch up on Yankee-kun to megane-chan and some other manga ive fallen behind on then hit the sack.
the FSN guess is wrong btw. I hated that show, i droped it after just a few episodes. I will give a hint that its newer than that though. And I actually liked it =P

It's hardly impossible. All it needs is for the encoder to make a typo when forcing a resolution rather than using aspect ratio correction.

It's hardly impossible. All it needs is for the encoder to make a typo when forcing a resolution rather than using aspect ratio correction.

No sane encoder would allow you to encode x*483. I'm pretty sure it needs to be an even number.

Nope to all of those. Remember i said it was newer than FSN, most of those guesses are older. Side note i was kinda stoked for Hakukoi and after it was mentioned in SYD i wentt o check it out.. didn't watch past the intro, the guys all look like chicks, way too bishounen for me =(

actually i havent seen Shiki yet, there were no groups doing it that i liked. Is it pretty good? it looked kinda different and interesting. If so what group are you following sister? And no its not Kino's journey, i will reiterate the clue i gave one more time It is NEWER than Fate stay night

For Shiki, I'm following HorribleSubs simply because there's is the best I saw when dl'g ep 1.
There may be others doing it now with good quality/size/subs, but since I'm happy with these, I'll just stick with it.
And It's actually pretty good so far, except that Megumi reminds me of a murderous-stalker-goth-loli version of Yuiko from Loveless XD
And there's no ghey or animal-eared people, so it may be one you'd like XD

STILL no concrete idea of what that show is, drat it...
