I don't speak Latin, so wouldn't that make very little sense to me? And don't all languages borrow from others in some way?

Aren't there more differences than just the slang and the spelling? Language reflects culture, doesn't it? I don't see why American English and British English shouldn't be reflective of their respective cultures?
