I have refrained from answering this question because, to be honest, I can't even remember what the first anime I ever watched was. I've watched anime for over 20 years now. Can't expect me to remember that...............*looks for alzheimers meds..........

But, I will say that anime in the last 10 years is much better than when I first started watching. I think I was really hooked on it when I was stationed in Okinawa in the early 90's while in the Air Force.

My first anime was probably Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh, or DBZ. At the time I didn't even know they were "anime". I thought they were like every other cartoon.

The very first anime for me was speed racer, although back then I was just a little kid and never thought of it as "anime" it was just a cool cartoon on Saturday morning. I suppose I could say the same for transformers and voltron but the first series I got into when I could understand that these were Japanese anime was dragonball and sailor moon

Silver Fang the cut version as a kid. It was super dissapointing watching it and knowing that I was missing like half the story and the entire last scene with Akakaboto, Riki and Gin. People who have seen the cut version, know what I am talking about.

The first piece of anime was Bambi meets Godzilla (because I was a huge Godzilla fan when I was 4).Loved it ever since. As for my first series, it was DBZ on Toonami.

honestly i cant remember cleary but i am nearly sure that it was "The Phoenix 2772 - Space Firebird" on eastern or XMAS 1989 on german RTL. Awesome old-school shit. Dragonball. A friend got me to watch a few eps, I was maybe 13 or 14. It was dubbed and tbh I didn't really give it a chance. Then when I was around 16-18 everyone I hung out with watched dragonball z on cartoon network religiously, but again, I didnt like it. Note that later after getting into anime for real, I rewatched dragonball and dragonball z in the original japanese/uncut and really enjoyed it.

I think the first real anime I watched, I would have had to be at least 21 or 22 when I started getting into it for real, was perhaps Inuyasha. Can't remember for sure. But it was Naruto that really got me loving it above all else. Then from there shows like Full Metal Panic! and Gundam SEED really hooked me forever.

I definitely agree that anime now is a lot better than it was 10+ years ago.

The first anime I ever saw was Digimon, English dub, on television. I saw that before Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh, I'm pretty sure.

The first anime I ever watched that wasn't English dub, however, was probably the Air movie, followed very shortly by Furuba, if you're only counting anime series... o-o;

The first Anime I watched front to back was Air Gear. I'd watched a bunch of other shit on TV, but those were all "oh it's on, I guess I'll watch it"

It was my first anime ever, even before Pokemon and Digimon. I loved it, lol. [I believe I was 5 when it aired here]
