At first I just watched whatever played on TV (Gundam Wing, Pokemon, Dragon ball Z, Sailormoon, etc.) until someone at college told me watching anime in Japanese is a lot better... and oh boy was he right. He then introduced me to Naruto which back then only 20 episodes or so were out, I got hooked into right from the start and been watching it every week ever since.

More than half a decade later... watched approximately 700 anime series/movies/OVAs so far and counting:

Fist of the North Star - I was 14 back in 1998 and my brother (Who is an Anime fan from the late 80s) rented it from a local videoshop. Wasn't too impressed overall (Story sucks) but so. much. blood. Definately never seen anything like it.

A week or so later I gave Anime a second chance and went back to the Video shop and rented Vampire Hunter D - Now that hooked me for life :) So, 14 years later still here and still watching Anime  8)

Probably Pokemon, but I was a kid and had no idea what was going on. My sister liked Sailor Moon and Cardcaptors, so I'd take a gander at that from time to time.

It wasn't a bad way to get into Anime I suppose. Remember I was 14 at the time - It certainly made an impression. Plus with the more 'kiddies' anime on certain sky channels at the time, I think I got a reasonable Anime education early on for a Brit who didn't go to any Anime clubs and didn't have the internet at the time :P
