I wonder if the store knew it was hentai.

Since I lived in the US when I was young my first one was Pokémon (I think) that aired dubbed on Cartoon Network. I had no idea of the concept of Japanese anime, so I thought that was produced by Americans. That idea still haunts me to this day.

Raito:
Pokémon and Digimon. Digimon still a masterpiece to me. I was first aware of watching anime though in 2007 when I saw a newly aired episode of Naruto Shippuden with Azuma dying, I was so confused what was happening so I watched 10 episodes before it. After I saw the 10 other episodes I was instahooked and I watched the whole show. That's where the spree started. Sometimes I wish I'd get amnesia so I could experience it again.

Darth.Sid:
The first series I started were probably Pokemon, dragon ball Z and card captor sakura( although I still can't believe how CN India got hold of the full 70ep version :O). I probably 'finished' watching CCS first cuz it was the shortest ( and goddamned CN stopped airing DBZ after the first season).

A.ki.ra, as Tetsuo says it. My friend's brothers used to watch it when we were quite young. Needless to say, it was frightening and made quite the impression. That more or less set up my standards about what I want out of anime: visceral, tragic, superpowers, with a plangent note of hope.

That being said, it wasn't too much later I watched Sailor Moon (American version) and love it. So there's that!
