Waiting to get new stuff always sucks eh?

I'm sitting cutting pictures of food out of junk mail to use on a piece of uni work. Boring as hell
Yeah, I was stuck with a 19" 5:4 LCD for months... now I finally got rid of it. Now I'll have a 16:9 screen to see BD rips in full 1080p glory :D

Pictures of food of junk mail? What kind of work is it? Seems a bit weird, lol :P

I see. Nice ^^

It's still 9:10 am, the retailer opens at 10 am so I can't phone them to see if they have stock of the monitor. Well, I'll go see if there's something for breakfast here xD

Six papers to write this weekend.

Six.

I'm going to freak out.

Freak out in happiness? I can do that shit in 3 hours including editing. (I love how super hard classes warp your views on "omg unfair")

Speaking of blah. I have about 10 pages of "draft" to do for Monday for one class, as well as another 3 pages for another class which needs full editing and full acceptance from a group.

But overall, it's an easy weekend. Not much to do.

Allow me to elaborate.

2 term papers (one op-ed project, minimum 12-page single-spaced; one philosophy/logic, minimum 8-page single-spaced)

2 synopses papers of physical analyses (gauge coupling unification/supersymmetry)

1 research paper covering 3 mental disorders and 3 medicinal treatments and their efficacy

1 paper on sexism

I guarantee you couldn't do it in 3 days, much less 3 hours.

Ah, my mistake, I misread. That would probably take me about 10-12 hours. Which indeed is a pain in the ass.

The sexism and philosophy ones are easy. Ranting is usually allowed (to an extent) in those ones. Editing is minimal.
(45 mins to 1:15 per page usually depending on how distracted you are)

Synopsis papers are half and half. Depends how much reference to scientific materials such as textbooks, research papers, articles, constructed data etc. there is.
(1:15-1:45 per page excluding editing and research time)

Research paper. Biggest pain in the ass. Most of your time is tied up looking up information and reading it. But once you finish that, it's usually smooth sailing as long as you have a basic idea.
(1:15-1:45 per page excluding editing and research time)

Don't get me wrong. I'm just crazy when it comes to such projects. I NEED to write papers and stuff. I don't get to do such things in Uni currently, because the teachers are lazy shits who rely on scantron tests all year long so their work is minimized. I fire off "B to A range papers" like nothing. The above times are literally approx the times I use to write papers.

The "worst" I've ever done was 14 hours for a 5 page paper. But quite a few hours of that was watching anime and movies and stuff as "research".

But seriously. Once you reach those "asshole classes" where you're submitting essays TWICE per week for a full semester on top of whatever other courses you have, you see papers as being a joke and "nothing". (That class was an eye opener for sure)

But then again, I'm crazy. I get stuff to edit from friends and end up half researching the topic to rewrite all sorts of sentences academically properly to "make it flow better". I'm not an English major or anything either. Just a personality problem. :P

Have fun. Grab a case of redbulls, blast music as loud as you can to drown everything else out and just get "in the zone".

Good luck

Well, the synopses will be, basically, integration and correlative formulations between gauge coupling unification and the implications for Higgs Boson mass... that versus the "standard" supersymmetry.  Research paper will be an evaluation of psychiatric neurotransmitter manipulation and the boring methodology behind non-MD psychology.  Op-ed will be on the stagnation of the US space program and various NASA projects.  Logic paper is graded by a stringent conservative charading around as a philosophy professor (CHARLATAN!)

But, yeah, well aware of the ridiculous 2-essays-a-week plus imperative.

hehe, I have the same problem too.

I got kicked out of a team once because people couldn't handle me rewriting their whole contribution to the group because I felt they had the vocabulary in 5th grade and that we should demonstrate a greater level of proficiency than that in the language (French, in this case). By the way, I'm not exaggerating; I think their brain was about to explode when I put a semi-colon in the text (though, to be fair, semi-colon are rarer in French since comma splices are grammatically correct).

Sometimes I cheap out to go with the flow. But I got really pissed once when we had a group member out of 4 decide she wanted to rewrite the whole damn thing and made it the rest of the group's problem to edit her shitty grammar. Arguments over single sentence structures ensued as well as the words to use. "CHEAP" is not as good of a word as "Inexpensive". Especially when you are supporting the place and not trying to make it sound shitty. I had to argue literally over an hour just for this one fix and she's the one with shitty grammar.

In the end I edited most of her stuff back to the original with slight fixes (that she proposed) and she barely noticed. True, she may have pulled our mark from the original 89 to what we got was a 93 or something like that? But at what cost? 150% MORE time? (which is about 18 more hours for a total of like 32?) I also pulled the presentation out of my ass and modified it to be a hell of a lot better than many other groups and I did so in 20 minutes. (Took me 10 minutes to explain the thing to the rest of the group minus her. We took away all the responsibility from her as we could.) It's not hard to get a little bit of participation from the audience and I HATE people who read shit word for word in presentations.

Seriously, I hate people like this. They pretend to be smart but anyone with slightly higher IQ and more attitude can easily expose them for what they actually are. Don't get me wrong. She's a nice person. But she's an idiot pretending to be smart. She causes more problems than she actually tries to solve.

But yeah, that essay takes the cake (group project). One we actually completed in 12 hours, that was muxed up and fucked up to shit within a day, and took us another 18 or so hours to sort out and edit... TWICE. Fucking crazy. Great intentions. But no brain.

There's also the other group project where some fucking retard thought we had the IQ of a person in a vegetative state and tried to submit blatant plagarism FOUR TIMES. In the end, we kicked that fucker out of the group, but not without a hell of a lot of arguing with and without the professor.

EDIT: Basically it was pure irony. I complained that I never got to do essays and stuff. Finally got them. Got excited, did my parts well, only to realize quickly I had fallen into a group with the most fucked up random individual for each that I had ever run into in my life. One was fucking power controlling with no brain. One had no brain and thought the rest of us were retarded. Both put together probably added another 40-50 hours worth of effort (including work, arguing and plotting with the other remaining group members).

Speaking of which, It's 7:30 am. I have had no sleep, I have a quiz in an hour and half or so, I need to edit a paper after the quiz (Will be repaid in beer which is a good thing. :P) and I have a concert to attend tonight. I will have a great time FULL of ENERGY to complete my previous arrangements. WHOO HOO! :P

well its been a long day... up at 5 am because of a) nerves and b) the heat (it felt like it was still over 25'C). i tried to get as much sleep as posible on the 4 hour trip to karate nationals.

first event was karta which i aced and got gold in, next was team Karta which i was 3rd.

I went in the mens 75-85kg open grappling this meant i would be up against brown/black, despite a valuent effort i fell just short and came 4th, though i recived a nasty foot injury(matt burn) which would hauint me in rounds to come

next was points sparing (first person to get three points, most things award 1/2 a point except knockout blows which are a full) which is my favorite event, however they only had 2 divisions and i was stuck in the Mens open 75kg+ category. well my first round opponent was a 4th degree black belt who has a reputation on not going easy on any one. LUCKY ME. so i got hit in the head twice, once was from a legal back fist (though it was a bit more than a tap) the next was an illgal uppercut to the chin. even though i hung on and managed to get 1 1/2 points off him. which is good seeing as i have only been doing this for a it under a year

continuous sparing was my last event, i dont really like sparing (you will get hurt in one way doing it) and with my right foot out off action i would have to rely on my punches. despite this handy cap i ended up 3rd due to a stroke of luck when the person who would come second knocked out the person i needed to defeat next round.

and so in the end i ended up with a 1st and 2 3rds and a lot of bumps and bruises

[big long post about morons]

I don't know what's worse.  The people like you are describing, or the people I usually get grouped with for projects that expect me to get them a good grade.  Cooperative efforts pffft!
