OK, if you need some series to get you sucked in, I recommend GunGrave and GetBackers (if you haven't already seen them). Another 2 that got me sucked in is Goldenboy and GTO (Great Teacher Onizuka).

Although this all depends on the person's preference.

If your preference is Sci-Fi w/ a bit of mecha, I recommend Infinite Ryvius and Vandread.
