Used to be with Kyrdua, s/he was with Ubuntu for a couple of months with a XP dual-boot. Until s/he decided the XP was better. (I encouraged Kyrdua to switch 'cuz most of our project were done at Windows)
i did find ubuntu good, but gnome sucked for me, tried kubuntu, it was a load fail, then stuck with opensuse the longest.(all in dual boot)
why i decided to not toy with linux anymore?

2. no CoreAVC in linux, or at least not as easily obtainable as windows.

edit GIMP works, but you can't do complex stuff with it, even the best gimpers's works are just on par with intermediate photoshop users. from what i've seen at least)
