^Look here kids, that's the exact way to NOT react about a job interview...

So I just wrote a 6-page essay about the misconception of frequent Internet users as being "loners" and social misfits that need help assimilating into "real" society.
What do you mean "a misconception"?

Because we can!

I was thinking exactly the same thing here...

A young woman was about to finish her first year of college. Like so many others her age, she considered herself to be very liberal, and among other liberal ideals, was very much in favor of higher taxes to support more government programs, in other words redistribution of wealth.

She was deeply ashamed that her father was a rather staunch conservative, a feeling she openly expressed. Based on the lectures that she had participated in, and the occasional chat with a professor, she felt that her father had for years harbored an evil, selfish desire to keep what he thought should be his.

One day she was challenging her father on his opposition to higher taxes on the rich and the need for more government programs.

The self-professed objectivity proclaimed by her professors had to be the truth and she indicated so to her father. He responded by asking how she was doing in school.

Taken aback, she answered rather haughtily that she had a 4.0 GPA, and let him know that it was tough to maintain, insisting that she was taking a very difficult course load and was constantly studying, which left her no time to go out and party like other people she knew. She didn't even have time for a boyfriend, and didn't really have many college friends because she spent all her time studying.

Her father listened and then asked, "How is your friend Audrey doing?"

She replied, "Audrey is barely getting by. All she takes are easy classes, she never studies and she barely has a 2.0 GPA. She is so popular on campus; college for her is a blast. She's always invited to all the parties and lots of times she doesn't even show up for classes because she's too hung over."

Her wise father asked his daughter, "Why don't you go to the Dean's office and ask him to deduct 1.0 off your GPA and give it to your friend who only has a 2.0. That way you will both have a 3.0 GPA and certainly that would be a fair and equal distribution of GPA."

The daughter, visibly shocked by her father's suggestion, angrily fired back, "That's a crazy idea, how would that be fair! I've worked really hard for my grades! I've invested a lot of time, and a lot of hard work! Audrey has done next to nothing toward her degree. She played while I worked my tail off!"

The father slowly smiled, winked and said gently, "Welcome to the conservative side of the fence."

Why do people so often seem to think that earning a lot of money means that you must be or must have been doing a lot of hard work and vice versa?

Maybe cuz moist peple actually DID work for that money? We cant all be rap stars after all. (misspellings on purpose, let us see if you can catch the references.)

No really- It was just a joke. Obviously omitting variables. It does not even really follow my political views, I just thought it was funny.

Also, I just looked at FB and am now watching the Lion King. Fuck you.. You know who you are. I kid, its actually a really good movie.

Japan here, i WANT to live on my own. Father says it's impossible. Is it very hard to live on your own without guidance?

I'm sick and tired of my schizophrenic mom and extremist of a father.
Didn't go to school, spent most of my 18 years stuck in the house cause she kept ruining everything including job opportunities, i went to sit exams with the help of dad, got CCNA, Solaris, Project Management, Microsoft 2008 Server + Database + Mail

You could say the recent incident was the last straw in dads jackass behavior, getting slapped all because i really wanted to buy some sweets we have been avoiding for 8 years now.

My hand writing clearly sucks, i heard you can get fired over it cause you wont be able to fill forms properly so i want to improve it as fast as possible.

Father is going to travel in 6 months, 3 days after discussing with mom that he would like to leave the "burden" with her that she will be a pain to handle, he now has the fucking nerve to tell me to ether go with him "Because i'm the father that sacrificed 20 years of my life to shield you from this lunatic, you're obviously too young to fend for yourself. You must either stay with her or come with me, of course if you can't follow my instructions you'd just be a burden to me."

It's pretty crystal clear if i go with him he's going to try and force me to go university then ship me off to marriage, "Cause nothing's more dangerous than a loose cannon that will bring deadly boyfriends to my house."
"I couldn't handle puberty when i was at your age, why should you be any different?".

I do not want to get married full stop.

Every time i get sloppy with the house cleaning he gives me a stern lecture on how people who do not know how to clean will not get marriage propositions. What the fuck does laziness got to do with marriage!?
My childhood of being beaten for messing up the dirty laundry, breaking my bike, throwing cups out the window, cutting my hair and going to flashy websites he did not like does not exactly reinforce my views on why i should throw away my life to make him happy. He wouldn't let me go outside to play with the others so most of my childhood has been in doors, has this got something do to with being in Tunisia? (Before it went crazy.)

My father apparently is an engineer with 50 degrees, can someone please tell me what goes on in the mind of such an individual? It's like he's from the fucking military.

What procedures do i have to go through to get an IT job, i've already opened my bank account, what is the site you go to submit your resume?

Sorry to dissapoint, but I didn't catch them.

It does not even really follow my political views, I just thought it was funny.

But it does reflect someone else's political views. Even if it was just a satire that I missed, but then it would just be pretty vice versa of how I perceived it to be.

Meomix, there tend to be a lot of sites for submitting your CV to, depending on speciality etc. Google jobs in your field and you tend to find a load of sites.

Loli do as well.

And :( at Meomix rant. I couldn't help you with Japan. Its hard enough trying to find a job here with little experience and half a degree.

Meomix, not that I'm exactly rooting for your father because I'm not, but from your BBT behaviour I'd say you're nowhere near able to live alone.

It does not even really follow my political views, I just thought it was funny.

But it does reflect someone else's political views. Even if it was just a satire that I missed, but then it would just be pretty vice versa of how I perceived it to be.
You've fallen for a trap. That is a false metaphor in the joke. Read it and you'll see it. ;)

I just realized how much I still have to learn :sigh: Awwell, I guess three more years in High School, and a minimum of four in college should be sufficient enough for me to eventually get these references.

Learning is a never-ending progress throughout your life. So after those few years there's a long road ahead ;)
