For a fresh graduate probably not a lot. My other half is on about £10,000 a year at the moment.

How can you live on that are the prices lower on items in the UK?

Thats minimum wage, he's hoping for a pay rise once the 3 month intro period is over. And since the rent on a 2 bedroom house around here equates to about £5,400 a year and we'll be splitting the cost it won't be too bad.

That still sounds a bit off..for your housing thats $718 a month (my motgage payment for a 3 bedroom house is $600) It sounds like you use public transit which can save on car payments and insurance.
how much are basic staples? a liter of gas or milk?

EDIT:is that 10,000 pounds after taxes?

Reminds me of when I started living on my own, your freelance job is not doing you favors in that regard. I sure hope you will pick up something stable and that will pay you much better. Splitting expenses is always good for both parties (or more) since you get to keep more cash for yourself. After a while, when you finally get a stable job you will get a better grasp of everything.

Wishing you the best of it :)

Southrop, I hope you don't plan on changing your set anytime soon.
For some reason I think it suits you perfectly :)
He seems WAY more timid now. The first ava I saw was some brown haired guy walking against the wind or something. Gave me a feel like Southrop endured a LOT of hardships in his life and since people like that tend to be dead serious, he seemed scary. Now this is a perfect match for him... I wonder what Osmo's opinion on this would be though...

that's some creative imagination hanayome.  :D

I wonder what kinda impression my ava/sig give about me.

I like your set because it's really unique, not the prettiest, but definitely something interesting done there.

I really don't understand why you think that sounds off. Its minimum wage. Its what a lot of people here are paid. Its hardly the lap of luxury but its liveable with.

After the inter period you can negotiate your salary, if the employer is satisfied with your work you can negotiate a good increase, the better you work the better the pay after negotiations.

Comparing what my wage was when I started working my current is 60% higher. I'd say that is above minimum, but below what I would like. But after a while you can really start pushing buttons and count more moneys.

I worked here for a while now and was able to negotiate a nice salary. Next year I will be able to re-negotiate a better pay, my contract ends and I already know that my boss will want to keep me.

Parts of it I admired greatly, parts I laughed at till my sides were almost sore;
other parts I read with absolute sorrow,  because I think them utterly false and grievously mischievous...

^^I still need to find out how much I'll be getting if I get one of the jobs I've got interviews for. In all honesty Mat's job is taking the piss at minimum wage and he's said if they don't review it after the 3 months he'll be moving asap.

The internet not working all days put me in a bad mood. FINALLY booked my London hotel though

That's good. It's nigh impossible to live of the minimum wage down here.

Well yeah, essentially doing 3 jobs when I initially thought I'd be doing one and then another when there wasn't too much going on with the design work.

I don't mind it for now, but after the 3 month period. If the wage remains at minimum, I'm ouutttaaa there... I wouldn't work minimum wage for a design job full time, let alone design, printing and data inputting.

The costs of transport etc will become too much to even make it worth going in, I'd rather try and freelance a bit more.

It's impossible to live at minimum wage alone everywhere, hence why people developed splitting costs with people they share a house :)
Suddenly forgot the term.

Negotiate, if that won't work, don't sign any papers, it's how I do for 3 years now. If they won't raise it, it means they don't even respect you.

I was taking about the impression I left. Like when Southrop's avatar left the impression that he was had troublesome life/hard work or something like that.

At any rate, so far you have been freelances right ?
I am hoping you grab a good place for a longer time.
I have been working since 11 years ago, but at this job I am working 3 years and every contract is a 1 year long (always ends near X-mass so they need people hahahah)
