I used to work retail for no commission. Didn't help the clothes we sold were considered, "Cheap". You'd spend like 15-20 mins folding clothes to have some (unfortunately, it's stereotype time) fucking woman mess up like 10 piles of them in 30 seconds "just browsing".
A lot of men (Surprisingly) attempt to fold what they take. Or, they just play with the top article of clothing, which is usually somewhat ruffled (either in a clump, or a clumsy fold) by a prior guy and only attempt to dig in once they deem it's even worth a purchase consideration.
Men will walk to the change rooms with as few articles of clothing as possible. Usually 1, maybe 2 at most if they want to compare or consider the look of clothing in conjunction to each other. (ie: Shirt to pants)
Men love trying on jackets. They don't have to go to the change room. Men hate trying on pants.
Women at times will go to a change room with up to 3 of the same article of clothing. "I think I'm a medium, but I'll try a small and a large too, just in case." For a creature who lives off how they look, you'd think they'd understand their body more. Men choose based on 3 criteria (for t-shirts anyways). 1. Do I need extra room? 2. Do I want it just right? 3. Do I want it to show off my muscles?
Men will stand in a single location staring at an article of clothing for minutes on end, truly concentrated on a purchase decision. Women either run up and start playing with the clothing, or they'll loiter. They'll walk random rounds and pass by an article of clothing like 3-5 times just pretending to look at other stuff. They either attack viciously or have issues with committing to the article of clothing.
Many women are excited to speak about their purchase to you when you ring their total up. Many men act as if they want to hide in a hole as soon as they pay for the clothes.
Just a little bit of my personal experience when working retail. But not all retail jobs are created equal.
Oh yeah... The manager never seems to want to ever be seen on the floor. They always try to find a reason to hide in an office or go somewhere else if at all possible.
