Somehow most of the LAN parties I used to go to turned into drinking parties so I would end up playing Diablo 2 alone or something. Could be my friends just suck but I haven't gone to any LAN parties in quite a while. Oh and the pranks... you wake up covered in flour, someone has hidden your mouse and there's a hamburger inside your PC. How I miss those times... not.
Nope, there's still nothing here.

hahaha, that sounds exactly like the LAN parties I had throughout college. Some of the more annoying pranks included changing someones background to a huge gay orgy, taking a screenshot of the desktop, setting that as the background, then deleting all of the icons, and hiding the task bar. Fucking annoying to figure out the first time when you're hungover and want the dudes off your desktop -_-

That's why I lock my computer whenever I go away from it (Windows key + L).

Wouldn't help much, all of my buddies know my admin passwords anyways. Mi casa es su casa. (which usually means when the culprit was found out, some slight key remapping was in order)  ;D

While I tend to be very hospitable to guests, "Mi casa es su casa", as a philosophy, would never lead me to freely give out my house key.  I wouldn't give out my admin password to a person I'm married to, let alone the average buddy.

lol, see, I actually don't need to use passwords anymore at LAN parties. last one I went to I accidentally left mine unlocked for like 2 hours while I went out, and I realized it while I was gone, so I was like, "oh shit, I'm going to have to reinstall windows it's going to be so bad". But when I got back, nothing had happened to it, nothing at all. and I looked around at the 20 guys near my computer and asked "wtf, why didn't you guys at least goatse me?" and I got the most awesome response. One kid turned around and said "We talked about it, but....we were afraid of what you would do to us." So there you have it, FEAR. Fear is much more effective than any password

I don't see it as being much of a problem. If something happens I'll know who it is, and not only that, what's the worst that can happen?
They find my doujinshi stash... They already know how big of a perv I am! Shit even my ex has my passwords.

I always change my passwords if I think one of them has the slightest chance of having been compromised. What's the point of a password if everyone knows it?

The best pranks must have been adding some (=a LOT of) interesting video clips in windows' start-up stuff. Good old active desktop allowed for some amusing backgrounds too. Rotating the desktop from display settings, rotating the wallpaper to make it look normal and moving the task bar to the opposite edge. Adding any kind of usual LAN food in very inappropriate places. I think the best one was a hamburger between a subwoofer's element and the netting in front of it and a sausage in its reflex tube. The guy thought it sounded "somewhat weird" before finding out. Then there's of course sharing the roots of all drives with full privileges. Oh and changing the wallpaper of the "host's" parents' PC into goatse or similar. Also unplugging cables and hiding peripherals was normal - if it's wireless it's gone every time you look the other way. Changing volume settings, either muting every audio source or setting every volume to max. And if you left something in the oven unattended, some interesting ingredients may have appeared on your food. And the list goes on...

I wonder if my LAN friends have grown up some by now :P

Damn there was a power outage but it seems Firefox saved what I had written. YAY! Although having a UPS would be even better.

Dude, if you did that to my audio gear, surgical assistance would be required to remove the sausage.  I hope that sub was replaceable.

Oh it was just a plastic piece of crap from some cheap 2.1 computer speakers. There's some limit to even what those guys will do.
