Every once in a while, usually after numerous visits from my kid's friends and cousins, I have to go in and clean their rooms. So I went in my youngest daughter's room to start cleaning since it looks like some sort of toy bomb went off and destroyed it. There I was sitting on the floor pulling clothing out of the toys. I look to the side and there is a big spider running towards me. So I ask one of the kids to go grab a shoe for me. I grabbed a wooden golf club to try and redirect the damn thing, but it kept coming at me. So I whack it good and then hit it a couple of times with a shoe since there is carpet and it's kind of hard to kill bugs on it.
Once it was dead I picked it up in a piece of tissue to see what kind of spider it was. Of course it was a brown recluse since that seems to be the only type of spider I ever find in my house. This was the first time I actually had one run towards me though, they usually just try to run away before getting smashed into oblivion. It was a good way to talk my kids into keeping their rooms clean though. I showed them pictures of what brown recluse bites look like. Maybe now they will pick up their damn toys off the floor in their rooms.
