And the question is: will the planetoid overheat due to internal friction and break up long before reaching the event horizon?

or will the relative time dilation effect prevent this for long enough time so that the event horizon gravitational pull will be successful in bringing in the body into the black hole ?(for the sake of argument let's ignore the effect of quantum tunneling vaporization of the body and the atom structure breakdown at extreme gravitational pulls)

I guess I should have specified the mass of the blackhole. Which has a strange effect. The larger it is, the less tidal, gravitational forces it has as you approach/pass the event horizon. With super massive black holes, you could pass beyond the event horizon and fall into it for quite awhile before spaghettification occurs.

You cannot "pass through" the event horizon as normal matter form (i.e: atoms). As you approach the black hole horizon, your atoms WILL break down and form a bidimensional stream of matter that is incorporated by the black hole absolute event horizon.

You may be referring to the apparent horizon when you say that you can "pass through", but when the body reaches the absolute horizon, all forms of matter and information will disintegrate.

In black holes the apparent horizon is so close to the absolute horizon that you can only really speak of absolute horizon when dealing with these critters.

The event horizon is the point of no return. The theoretical "line" you cross of which not even light can escape. What I am saying is, you can cross that threshold without encountering spaghettification. This is only true with super massive black holes.

Though, I didn't want this to turn into an astrophysics debate. I was trying to be funny by replying to Sidith's comment.

thats only theoretical.
They dont have any definitive proof of what happens and there are several theories.

You can't really fall into a singularity. Also, neither you nor anyone else would ever observe you "losing" dimensions. Hell, no one will ever "see" you hit the event horizon.
