Should we be attacked then I'll fight for free ;)

If you'll willingly fight for my Panscandinavian Empire, I'll treat you to dinner though ^^

M14 is one of the few cool standard issue rifles US made. Marines were smart to insist on keeping it and what you see on the picture is the modernized version: M14 EBR. Awesome thing and not a peashooter either, it's obvious that you don't realize that it fires 7.62mm bullets, the most powerful ammunition besides 12.7mm (which is not used in assault rifles at all)

That looks cool lol SK ones still look a bit brownish.

Yes M14 uses 7.62 mm and the recoil's twice as strong as M16's 5.56 mm, and that's what most beginners complain about, aside from the gun's weight. It gets raw on the shoulders quick. M16 carbine works like a charm for most.

I find it finny that there's a bunch of military/navy chat here, on a torrent site.

"SOLIDER, GET TO WOOOOORK"
"SORRY SIR! I JUST HAVE TO SET K-ON UP FOR DOWNLOAD BEFORE WE GO!"

How long do you guys serve?

Sorry, I missed this.

It's 2 years in South Korea, forever in the North, and 1 1/2 years in Iran.

Tempting, do I get to choose the restaurant myself?

Ah so only if you choose to extend your military service do you get paid.

Um... yes.

Sorry. I didn't imply that you were lying. I just found it a bit surprising that the U.S. military will find places for Filipinos.

...

Quote
My work center supervisor (my immediate boss). The Command Master Chief for the ship (he may be a US Citizen now, but he's from the PI), about half of Supply Department are RoP nationals.

What about the... 'combat department', you know, the ones piloting gunboats and helicopters and stuff? Do they employ Filipinos there?

Yes, there are Filipinos in the combat departments on ships. I'm part of the Combat department (sort of, my ship is weird), ergo my immediate boss is. Gunboat coxswains are gunboat coxswains, they're not part of the Combat Department of a ship. Helo pilots are officers, all officers are US Citizens. Air Detachment is also not part of Combat.

Also, not everyone in the military is a soldier. I'm a fuckin' sailor.

Yeah, thanks for reminding me. What's the payment difference between frontline soldiers and support personnel?

Ummm... base pay? Nothing. An E-5 in one branch and an E-5 in another with the same time in the military are paid the same.

Certain billets get things like hazardous duty pay and if you're in a combat zone for any part of a month you're not taxed on your base pay.

But other places have other incentives. Like I get a tax-free COLA (cost of living allowance) for being in Japan, an extra several hundred dollars a month.

The linear nature of your Euclidean geometry both confounds and befuddles me.

As long if it's still affordable for me - yes ^^

(Don't worry you don't have to pick a cheap fast food place... but I don't think those fancy asian places with "each table has their own cook"-concept would be affordable for me (damned menus cost like 100€ each...)

But hey - even if you wouldn't fight for my Panscandinavian Empire.. it would still be fun to treat you to dinner I guess ^^

How many years did you train for before being inducted as an official [paid] personnel in the U.S. Navy?

That is very nice of you to say. I'm buying the drinks then :)

100€ each you say, damn I don't think I've been to such an expensive place. The food better be worth it and to be honest I've only been to maybe ten "better" restaurants were I really felt the food was worth every cent.

Wow, holy fucking crap. Seriously.

As a side note: do they give out university scholarships too?

And 100 euro (is that euro?) per table is pretty fokked up lol, I don't think that happens in South Korea. It's heresy. That's like 15% of my mom's monthly income >_>

Yes. It's called the 9/11 GI Bill (used to be Montgomery GI Bill but it got upgraded).

Yes it is Euro, and it was in Munich in one of those crazy japanese restaurants, where every table has its own chef juggling with seasoning and slicing meat in midair and basically doing a show out of cooking
