One of my friends from college applied to Brighton uni, and for her to get from Stoke (where we lived) to Brighton was £100 with no rail card. Costs me £20 for a return from Lincoln, and when we go to my boyfriend's parents for a few days its over £40 return because they're in Reading.

She went to Nottingham Trent in the end anyway, so she pays less train fair than me now, since Nottingham is one of my changes on the way home

...we might have crap weather but it is my home =P
You have crap wealther?

I love winter and wish it would last most of the year. Try living here where half the year is 30+ degrees and during summer the temp is around 40 degrees. This plus other factors is why i wanna leave my home city as soon as possible.

I live in the closest thing to brit weather I have been told by friends, so I guess I would feel just at home. Though I'm with you, give me the winter for most of the year and I would be in heaven.

We're in Noumea, New Caldonea right now and the weather here reminds me of home (Southern California). 80 to 90 farenheit and very low humidity. It's great.

Two weird things, though:

1) It's really weird being in a country of white people and not being able to understand them (New Caldonea is French speaking). A lot of people do speak English, so getting info isn't too hard.
2) I was with my liberty buddies and we went to an aquarium and I heard some Japanese toursits speaking and thought to myself "this is way more normal!" I'm going to go back stateside and be confused when I can actually just understand everybody!

Dude, I haven't even started learning Japanese yet, and that's where I "live."

I only know English.

It gets old really fast. I've seen it snow up here every month of the year, and weeks where the daytime high is -15 or -20 really wear on you. This last winter wasn't too bad; it only got down to -35 on a couple of occasions.

I'd rather have sun. Gonna be sad when I have to put all my summer dresses and things away.

Fahrenheit or Celsius??
I grew up in a valley where we had snow sometimes to trick or treat in otherwise before turkey day till we hit at early February. I learned to walk in it in even flip-flops and shorts. Though that was on the warmer days that are just above freezing or freezing.

Who said you had to put them away?? If you know what your doing you can wear them just fine.

Celcius, but it's getting to the point where it doesn't make much difference (they are the same at -40º). We normally start building our winter snowpack sometime in October (though this year has been quite warm), and halloween costumes are usually obscured by hats and enormous coats. I do understand what you mean about clothing though. Parkas and miniskirts are a strange combination, but are seemingly popular here (and a welcome sight). And I usually start wearing a coat once I start growing a stachecicle. No one loiters outside though  ;)

I was just asking to get a ideal on difference since I'm use to Fahrenheit.
So yeah yeah we were normally lucky enough to get Halloween, whether the snow just started that day or not yet. Though we did have a few years that we had snow before hand. Also we had a few years that we had snow till April and loose packs here and there till late June early July. Then I moved to a state where you get enough to put a footprint and people start freaking. It sucks here, I know how to drive in the snow, but the others drivers scare me enough to avoid it during main driving time.

The ones that can be worn with shirts and tights will stay out, but I think for the most part my jeans will be coming back out. Summer dresses look silly with wooly hats. Lol

I don't wear wooly hats, but I do tend to run around with my set of cans on more often in the winter then my ear clips.

I never used to, but it gets really windy here in the winter, so if I don't I get a headache

Good lord is the heating on! I'm boiling!

Yeah breeze doesn't bother me to much as due to long hair, though I have gotten a chapped nose a few times... So yeah I keep my window open all year around, most the time it has a fan in or nearby it running on at least low. people don't get how I can stand the temps. (Though it saves a shit load on the electric bill due to I don't run a heater in winter, I just have to throw a blanket in front of my door to cap off the air.)
