144 credits over (typically) 8 semesters in mine, though that depends on which programme you are in.

My school requires 120 semester credits except Engineering and Architecture at 128, which seems fairly normal (15 credits a semester). The general rule of thumb, is that the number of credits equals the number of class hours in a week (except labs which are 2-4 hours at 1 credit usually). Plan on spending three to five times the class credits as hours on homework and studying per week (depending on major and class, less for lower division courses).

15 credits would be 15 class hours per week (as above) plus an hour or two per week (in addition) for each lab. At my school 1 credit classes can be on any day, 2 credit classes are TR, 3 credit are MWF, and 4 credit are MTRF.

Typically 1 class-hour every week per credit. however, I have taken 1-credit courses that entailed 4 hours of lectures/lab-work (every week — what assholes), and my lab courses were 2-3 credits involving at least 5 hours of lab work a week.

This will vary depending on where you study, of course. And, needless to say, this is just the time you'll be spending in class; there's also the time you'll be studying and/or writing reports and so on. (You are also free to skip lessons, as usual

so long as you know what you want...)

Man, how do you calculate this? What if you had 3 class hours on week 1, then 5 class hours on week 2, then 4 class hours on week 3? Add them all and divide them by number of weeks?

So very true. The 16 credits in the second semester of my senior year was 20 hours of lab & lecture per week, and ~70-100 hours of homework and studying per week. Stupid engineering...

You have the same classes every week, ergo the same class hours every week.

I just wish the weather getting colder wouldn't make me ill. I've developed an increasingly chesty cough today and really feel like staying home tomorrow, but I need to go to my 9:30 lecture and then do some group work ready for Thursday mornings class... Its not fair if I let other people down.

And I'm mad that one of my Desperate housewives DVDs is so scratched I can only watch half of the contents

right now we have one of two things that might happen, snow or no snow somewhere closer to december or after if we get lucky otherwise we will have no snow.
