It's... another paradox? Perhaps he's stealing your hat which you have in an alternate universe, causing a collapse of two possible dimensions (one where you do have a hat, and the other where you don't) into just one where you don't have a hat.

Sorry, I know you're probably trying to make a story that makes less sense than Umineko or Canaan but you'll have to try harder.

Strangely the lack of distractions makes me very fidgety. Almost finished my idea generation though... then I just need to catalogue and print my books off and do something for my mum
