I am jelly.

Do they limit speeds when you leave the ISP? Regional speeds?

In theory - no (before this the speed was 200mbps to Lithuania and 80mbps elsewhere). In practice, it's hard to achieve those speeds on international servers, since those servers could be overloaded (300mbps is quite a lot). I tried downloading some new torrents (so that they would have lots of leeches) and managed to achieve 200mbps upload speed, so I guess it is true, I just need to find the right torrents to seed.

we have same ISP but you get better results than me.. I confused..
(if you have that Elisa Viihde which should have 24/1 speed..)

Haa, can't remember, but I happen to know that the ISP average DL speed is 15, the UL was something like 5? + My PC has the slowest connection at our household xD (well, my PC is the oldest one...) But wondering about what results  get when I get the new PC.

+, isn't that set mabe by Tatsu? If I correctly remember it had quite long rotation (at least the orginal) and it was done out of my request xD Actualy teh set Tatsu made was the reason I watched Zone of the enders...

I am seeding quite a lot of torrents (a lot of public ones, not so many from bakabt), the problem is that the hard drive in the torrent-server is only 320GB and seeding from a network drive is a bit slow. I only seed the torrents that I download because they are interesting to me. Other than the test now, I do not download torrents just for seeding (again, the hard drive is not that big).

now the question is, which ISP to get that doesnt cap their bandwidth and doesnt mess up packets. my net here has an average of 2-5% packet loss and a +100 ping latency when connection is going out of country(too many hops within the ISP itself).

well i posted looking for info on helping out the community only to have my first thread/post locked, and redirected here because i guess it came off like i was trying to 1 up people on inernet speed. I can't say i have enjoyed the first 10 mins here so if someone can point out the easiest way for me so seed some torrents for people so i can help the community, then i can be on my way. Thanks

Just download what you enjoy and keep it in whatever bittorrent program you use and keep that opened as much as you want. Especially for the first like month or so, when still building up your ratio it's a decent upload speed (fantastic compared to mine) but BBT is oversaturated on seeders so even then you won't be seeding nearly as much as you'd think.
It took me around ~50 torrents or so before I got to a point where I'm always on my max (100kb/s) upload speed.

After you got a stable ratio if you really want to help out, in the tracker you can search for ''bonus'' torrents that have particularly low amount of seeders compared to leechers. But that's pretty much the most you'll be able to do, and it'll pale compared to some of the monsters on this site.

About not having enjoyed the first 10 minutes, I'm sorry to hear that, but I saw your first post. And while I didn't get the feeling you were trying to ''1 up people on internet speed'' these forums are pretty vast, and we try to encourage to use the search function. We get a lot of... less intelligent people here (just check the Need Help? Ask Here! subforum, like half the threads started there just make me facepalm, and almost always from newcomers who don't even bother to check the wiki if it lists their problem). Frankly forgive impatience and get to know the community a bit more, most of the people here are awesome.

distinctly heard myself speak. If I pinch your bottom, you can slap my face, but until I do, I expect a civil word for a civil word!

Made a topic for those, lol

@traintech

as for your locked topic. you indeed have a noble cause but i think staff just
don't want warned leechers to avail of such luxury. it's easy to make up shit
to get others to do your seeding. if you check my tracker profile you'll see my
ratio is pretty high. i couldn't have seeded that much myself if it weren't for
the kind soul who volunteered to help me out. (^_^ you know who you are)

so yeah, if you're still willing you can get to know people here and choose
someone to help.

Gigabit symmetric connections aren't uncommon in Japan. I think what you have would be considered slow, and the equivalent of "lite" speeds in North America.

Edit: Okay, maybe not quite. But it's at most a bit above average.

speeds can have a huge variety from the average 512kbps to as high as 1gbps so that isnt much of a problem, the problem about the ISPs is the bandwidth cap and/or what ever their other restrictions.

if only i could sue my ISP for false advertisement, extortion and wire fraud to get them straight "give me the speed you're advertising or close your company plus a refund for the days i had slow connections." but seriously, they should declare their minimum speed and bandwidth cap more accurately.

The minimum speed should be in the contract. For example, my contract says:
The maximum speed to the nearest ISP node can be 35% lower. International onnection overbooking - 1:30.

So, I should  get at least 10mbps. And yes, the speed drops to about 13mbps for a couple of hours every evening (usually 20:00 to 22:00).
And no, my ISP does not have a bandwidth cap. I sometimes upload 10TB/month and the ISP says nothing (now I will probably uplaod even more with the faster connection).

I would like a gigabit connection. Then my LAN would have to be 10g which would be fun :)

I dug up some files i got from here a while ago and will seed those as they look like they need some help. don't get me started on bandwidth caps. If you are gonna advertise Xmbps, then the whole month, minus the few times when something happens beyond their control, then i should get Xmbps. tbh, if a company said i could have a 10mb up/ 5mb down connection without any bs cap but it didn't go up or down in speed, i would be more then happy.

The ISP finally replaced the fiber-to-1000BaseT converter and now I can get the new speed:

It says "Faster than 99% of LT". I wonder what kind of ungodly speeds the other 1% must be getting.

no caps+good service > super speed+crappy caps

i prefer a no cap with only constant 1mbps up and down VS. up to 100mbps with 50gb cap. no use having super speed when it runs out in just an hour or so.
